Storytelling is an art form. We all recognise and appreciate a story well-told.
Speaking of which, I’ve watched a number of blockbusting movies this summer, including a reinvention of Superman and a film involving dinosaurs chasing people (no spoilers). However, the one with the strongest story was F1 with Brad Pitt.
I’m not going to tell you much else about F1, I’ll leave it to you to form your own opinion if you have yet to see it. I’ll just say this: as I have grown older, I find I’m less wowed by technicolour achievements and green screen techniques, and far more interested in watching films with deeper narratives that could shape a viewer’s life.
I will always remember going to the cinema (The ageing Odeon in Bristol) to watch “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. That was a summer blockbuster that didn’t disappoint me, and it left me wanting to live out my own adventures.
Storytelling can lose its draw when action sequences over-dominate. For example, Mission Impossible 8 is built around two such sequences and the story stalls (no spoilers) leaving you hoping for a return to form in the next instalment (if Tom’s knees can take it). The previous three movies were incredible but this episode of Mission Impossible fell a little bit short of expectations, although I still enjoyed it.
Metaphorically speaking, at Cre8ion, our job is about helping people create their own blockbuster stories. I suppose it’s for that reason that we are privileged to be surrounded by people who have an adventurous spirit! It’s great to compare notes with our clients about our respective journeys and one common denominator seems to be that we all work pretty hard.
This year, we have continued to chart a course of adventure and as the year has progressed, we have found ourselves penning some new stories, helping to bring clarity and confidence to the incredible companies we work with.
Hum4ns
Hum4ns has a new intake starting in September, and I know that the leaders who have signed up will find their challenges halved by joining the collective. Through Hum4ns talks we have seen a movement start to grow from Bristol to Cardiff (Wales) and Adelaide (Australia). Our Hum4ns Empowered Leadership Programme is ready for fresh faces! Just doing our free assessment will position you to make some positive choices for 2026.
Di9ital
Di9ital continues to grow, with some great US projects launching as well as exciting developments with existing clients. Project launch dates in autumn mean intensified preparation.
It’s a shame that many people with amazing ideas never launch their project as they become distracted, trying to secure what they believe to be the necessary level of investment! If they could start to build with less investment than they originally envisaged (say delete two thirds off the bill), they would be much more likely to get the ball rolling.
Great news!!! Our Discovery Compass helps you to build enough to get going and invest in the most important thing, which is getting users! If you want to start on your tech travels, we recommend using a compass that works for you!
Truelume Films
Another endeavour that we have become involved with is Truelume Films. As storytellers, we are excited to be on board with Truelume and step towards writing, directing and producing stories that bring hope.
I enjoy blockbusters, but the art of storytelling is being lost! So, in good entrepreneurial fashion, rather than moaning about it, I want to be a part of the solution to this problem. Multiple stories are being written and assembled by a dream team. Progress is being made at an exciting rate! We’ll be filming shorts in September as we continue to secure funding, project by project. To any investors out there, if you would be interested in seeing our decks, we’d love to speak to you.
Cre8ion
Cre8ion continues to grow internationally, telling stories using 3D and positioning companies towards national and even international opportunities. We’ll never forget our roots in the South West, however London’s calling! Budapest too! We are planning another trip to the beautiful Hungarian capital in the autumn with our friends at HBBA.
Purpose and storytelling
My own story is rooted in purpose and storytelling. Travelling is part of that journey and in 2025 it has been a privilege to be able to travel to the U.S. to film our client’s stories!
Our team is growing, our people are progressing and the seeds of ideas are germinating! The first half of 2025 has been incredibly inspiring and we can’t wait to see what the second half brings.
I love the people I get to work with daily and the life we are creating for now and for generations! We’d love to share adventures with you, building for impact and influence. It’s not always the most obvious route, but it’s one adventure I am committed to.
