There Must Be More to Life Than This?

I don’t often use this blog to talk about the most important thing in my life, but recent events have stirred me to do just that.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how our culture has shifted. We no longer teach our children about the possibility of a Creator. Instead, we tell them—directly or indirectly—that their existence is the result of random chance and biological urges. Schools rarely suggest there could be a grand plan and a designer who crafted each person with purpose and intention.

Is it any wonder, then, that so many people today struggle with purpose and direction? When the splendour of creation is reduced to mere coincidence, life loses its defined value. What remains is a generation drifting, searching for meaning but unsure where to turn.

Driving to a speaking engagement recently, it struck me that multiple generations now are navigating life without God. For them, the search for meaning can feel long and arduous.

In our postmodern world, our outlook is increasingly subjective. Diversity of opinion—once a healthy catalyst for growth—is now fraught with conflict. When opinions clash, relationships fracture. People get “cancelled,” and with that, their sense of self-worth can be shaken. Without a spiritual anchor, it’s easy to feel as though your existence is meaningless and disposable.

If there’s no God, and if others are dismissive of me, how do I determine my value or direction? It’s tempting to turn to distractions—anything to numb the painful question: “Does my life have purpose?” And when the media and education systems don’t provide answers, where do we go?

Here’s the thing: God speaks when you ask the right question.

If you’ve never asked—or if you’ve practiced religion but haven’t felt God’s involvement in your life—it’s time to ask. God is speaking more loudly than ever, but we live in an age of unprecedented distraction.

When someone tells me the God of the Bible doesn’t exist, or that He is the reason for war, or that He doesn’t care because of all the evil He allows to happen, I don’t get angry. I simply think: They’re listening to the wrong frequency. They’re judging God on the wrong evidence. The journey begins with a simple question.

Free speech is all over the news these days, but free will has always been at the top of God’s agenda. He doesn’t force Himself on us. He lets us choose—and then live with the consequences. Real change, real purpose, comes only when we choose Him. God doesn’t need a rebrand. His message hasn’t changed. And it can still be heard—quietly but clearly—by those brave enough to ask: “Surely there must be more to life than this?”

Because there is.

When we remove a living God from schools, we turn Him into a set of rules—dead rules, easily rewritten. The relative morality that results leaves us choking on whatever wins the most votes. But we’re wired to believe in something more.

I know this because I’ve lived it. Twenty-four years ago, I turned back to God, and it reshaped my life. That decision remains one of the best I’ve ever made. Today, I’m married with three children, and my deepest desire is that they never lose sight of the Creator who brings hope in the midst of darkness.

This past weekend, we watched a friend get baptised—a friendly, energetic young person we met years ago at a large event. Back then, she was asking the same question: “There must be more to life than this.” And now, we’re seeing God answer her, just as He answered me.

So if you think I’m crazy, God bless you. But I know there are thousands of silent questioners out there. If that’s you—reach out. My family and I are here to do what we’ve always done: bridge the gap, help you find answers, and reconnect you to God.

Because the biggest lie is that you’ll die and that’s all there is to it. It’s not true. And if you’re struggling with where life is leading or whether there’s more, I dare you: ask God to show you.

I once stared up at the night sky and asked the same question. God heard me. He’ll hear you too.

And if you’re ready, get ready for the ride of your life.
